About Checkers

Checkers is the timeless board game of diagonal moves and clever captures. Slide your red pieces forward and jump over the computer's black pieces to capture them — chain several jumps in one turn for a big swing. Reach the far side and your piece is crowned a king, free to move both ways. Capture all the computer's pieces, or leave it with no moves, to win.

Checkers is one of our free board & strategy games for kids — play it right here in your browser, or browse all our free online games.

How to Play

  • Tap one of your red pieces to see where it can go.
  • Move diagonally forward to an empty dark square.
  • Jump over a black piece to a space beyond it to capture — and keep jumping if you can!
  • Reach the top row to crown a king that moves in all directions.

Tips & Tricks

  • Look for double and triple jumps before you move.
  • Keep your back row to stop the computer making kings.
  • Trade pieces when you're ahead.
