About Leap Home

Halma, the game draughts borrowed its jumps from. Your six pieces start in one corner and must all end up in the opposite one. A piece can step to any next-door square — or hop over a piece into the space beyond, and hops can chain, so a well-placed line of pieces carries you right across the board in one turn. Finding those chains is the whole game.

Leap Home is one of our free board & strategy games for kids — play it right here in your browser, or browse all our free online games.

How to Play

  • Tap one of your pieces — everywhere it can reach lights up.
  • Tap a lit square to move or hop there.
  • Hops can chain: one turn can cross the whole board.
  • Get all six pieces into the far corner to win.

Tips & Tricks

  • Leave a piece behind as a stepping stone for the ones still coming.
  • A chain of hops beats six single steps.
  • Don't move back into your own corner — you'll only have to leave again.

What Kids Learn

Leap Home is more than fun — it helps build real skills:

  • Planning a route several moves ahead
  • Spotting chains and sequences
  • Thinking about position, not just distance
