About Simon Says

Simon Says is the classic light-and-sound memory game, and the rules couldn't be simpler: four colored pads flash a pattern, and you tap them back in the exact same order. Get it right and the game adds one more flash on the end — so round after round the sequence stretches a little longer, and your memory has to stretch with it. Each pad plays its own note, so before long kids are remembering the little tune as much as the colors. It starts gentle and turns pleasantly nerve-wracking, which is exactly why "just one more go" is so hard to put down.

Simon Says is one of our free memory & attention games for kids — play it right here in your browser, or browse all our free online games.

How to Play

  • Hit start and watch closely as the pads light up, one at a time.
  • Play the pattern back by tapping the pads in the same order.
  • Get it right and the game adds one more color to the end — now remember them all.
  • A single wrong tap ends the round, so take your time and try to beat your best streak.

Tips & Tricks

  • Say the colors out loud as they flash — hearing them makes the order far easier to hold on to.
  • Watch the whole sequence before you touch anything; jumping in early is how most streaks end.
  • Break a long pattern into little chunks of two or three, the way you'd remember a phone number.
  • Lean on the sounds as well as the colors — each pad's note gives you a second way to recall the order.
  • Feeling rushed? Slow down. Simon rewards a calm head far more than fast fingers.
