About Peg Solitaire

A board of pegs, and one rule: a peg jumps over its neighbour into an empty hole, and the peg it jumped is removed. Keep going until only one peg remains. Boards start with five pegs and build up to seventeen, and every single one has been proved solvable — so if a child gets stuck, the way through really does exist.

Peg Solitaire is one of our free puzzles & logic games for kids — play it right here in your browser, or browse all our free online games.

How to Play

  • Tap a peg to pick it up — the holes it can jump to light up.
  • Tap a lit hole to jump. The peg you jumped over disappears.
  • Keep jumping until one peg is left.
  • Undo is always there if a route runs out.

Tips & Tricks

  • Try not to strand a peg on its own in a corner.
  • Work towards the middle — pegs at the edge run out of jumps.
  • If you get stuck, undo a few moves rather than starting over.

What Kids Learn

Peg Solitaire is more than fun — it helps build real skills:

  • Planning several moves ahead
  • Thinking about consequences
  • Working towards a single goal
